Biography:
Pinakin Gunvant received his Bachelor of Science in Optometry from the Elite School of Optometry, Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences Pilani, India in 1999. During his optometry program, he was actively involved in research in uveitis in the laboratory of Dr. Jyotirmay Biswas MD, consultant ophthalmologist and histopathologist. He also worked with Dr. E. Vaithilingam PhD on corneal physiology and contact lenses. He presented his honors thesis at the Indian Contact Lens Society and was awarded the “Best Paper Presentation Award” (1998). He subsequently received his Ph.D. from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England, under the supervision of Daniel O’Leary, Ph.D., in the area of glaucoma. His post-doctoral research was at the University of Louisville with Edward Essock, Ph.D., where he focused on improving diagnostic techniques in glaucoma.
