School Screening Program
No-Cost Vision Screenings Available For Schools
Doctors and interns from The Eye Center are pleased to provide more than 12,000 schoolchildren with vision screenings each year throughout Shelby County. The Eye Center’s School Screening program, led by Dr. Lindsay Elkins, allows teams of 10-15 interns and doctors to perform vision screenings at schools.
A school screening provides school children with basic assessments of eye health. Eye alignment, for example, is checked. The program even serves daycare centers or pre-schools, as well as thousands of children who are members of Memphis area Boys and Girls Clubs.
The school screening teams are also available to visit high school or middle school career fairs to hand out brochures and information about optometry. Arranging a no-charge screening or visit to your school is a great service to area school children. Schools interested in hosting vision screenings or speakers should contact Dr. Elkins at firstname.lastname@example.org
