Advanced Care Ocular Disease

Advanced Care Ocular Disease Service provides patients with specialized attention and care for their acute and chronic health disorders under the direction of Dr. Michael Gerstner, Chief of Service.

Our doctors concentrate on advanced diagnostic testing and management of conditions such as glaucoma, the ocular effects of systemic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, and many genetic disorders.

We also provide ongoing care for retinal disorders and unique neurological conditions. Fluorescein Angiography is one of our advanced diagnostic testing procedures whereby we obtain images of the blood vessels from inside the eye.

A significant portion of care in this service area includes urgent or emergency services. Doctors are on call seven days a week, 365 days each year. Call (901) 722-3250 to request an appointment. After hours emergency care may be requested by calling the same number, (901) 722-3250.

Eye Exam Equipment
Technology Center

The Technology Center provides our doctors with the tools they need to provide patients with the highest level of care.

This technology also exposes our interns to the latest in state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities.

Under one roof you will find electro-diagnostic testing for ocular and brain function, measurement of retinal sensitivity, external and internal ocular photography and computer-based analysis of the optic nerve, retinal health and function.

Offering so many testing procedures in one location is an achievement that few other facilities can claim.
In fact, The Technology Center at The Eye Center also serves as an independent diagnostic center for other Memphis-area eye doctors who are not affiliated with The Eye Center at Southern College of Optometry.
